RAD READING – September

This month I read a book called The Last Kids on Earth and the Nightmare King by Max Brallier. In this book main character Jack Sullivan along with Quint, June, and Dirk, are trying to survive in the post-apocalyptic world. Most of the humans became zombies but monsters also came to Earth. Jack and his buddies live in their treehouse and have a bunch of fun. Quint, June, and Dirk want to find their families when the gang finds a walkie talkie. However, Jack is an orphan and wants to stay with his friends. What will happen next?

This book was really fun to read because it is about normal kids our age but they’re in a completely different world. The book is very interesting and fun and I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book. This is the third book of the series so start from book one. My favorite character in this book is Quint because he is book smart but not street smart. This is a really bad but funny thing in the post-apocalyptic world. On pg. 9 the text states, “Quint immediately curls up into a ball and plays dead like it’s a bear attack. Thankfully, Dirk is there. He snags both zombies by their ankles and using his ludicrous strength,” My favorite quote from the book is “‘Hey! Knock it off! We’re trying to have a nice day!’” This quote is meaningful to me because it is extremely funny. This quote occurs when Jack and June are on a ride at Fun Land. A monster tries to grab their car and Jack shouts at the monster.

The Show 23

If I could live in any fictional universe it would be The Show 23. The Show is a baseball video game with real MLB players and teams. I would really enjoy playing in MLB. It would be so much fun since baseball is my passion. I would be able to play with some of my favorite players. Another fun aspect was I could choose my team. Since it is a video game my career would last infinitely and I could break all of the MLB records. Out of the five game modes I would choose Road to the Show. In this mode, you play as your own player, developing your skills and working your way up through the minor leagues to MLB. Playing The Show would be like living my dream.

Yum, Yum!

The thought of my favorite meal makes my mouth water. Some juicy New York steak would be really nice. Having the steak cooked by my dad on the grill is perfect. The steak goes well with some good salmon. I love my salmon with a taste of lemon. What would make the meal even better is some mac and cheese. To drink I would have ice cold, fresh-squeezed lemonade. For dessert I would enjoy chocolate mousse. This it what my perfect meal would look like.

Mountain Paradise

If I could design my own house it would look like a mansion. It would be in the mountains and out the window you’d see the ski slope. I would own a personal ski slope with chairlift. There would be a garage with every kind of car and there would be drivers too. There would be an indoor baseball field so I could practice up in the mountains. For my coaches I would hire the MLB All-Star team. The kitchen would have a dishwasher that cleans everything. There would be a giant kitchen with a crew of chefs that could make any meal. There would be a whole video game room just for gaming. In every room there would be a soft serve ice cream machine. In my bedroom there would be dog beds so my dogs could sleep with me. There would be fifty bedrooms. There would be a one acre pool that could freeze. There would also be a runway with a private jumbo jet as well as a flight crew. There would be a massive zoo. There would be a 1 acre tv that showed every baseball game.

The Big Apple

If I could travel anywhere on planet Earth it would be New York City. I would stay at the Plaza Hotel. I would eat lots of New York pizza. For dinner I would eat at the gourmet Keen’s Steakhouse. I would like to go to the Baseball Hall of Fame located in Cooperstown which is just about a four hour drive. I would also go to the top of the Empire State Building. I would go to a Yankees game and buy the tickets right behind home plate. In addition, I would take a helicopter tour of New York City as well as a boat tour of the Statue of Liberty.
