RAD READING – March

This month I read a book called Code Zero by Paul Orton. In this book the main character is Ryan Jacobs. Ryan and one of his good friends Kelvin Sparks at the secret school Devonmoor Academy build a robot together. Named, the stealth bot, things quickly go from bad to worse when it goes rogue into the woods. When it attacks the school with its lasers and guns Ryan and Sparks must quickly formulate a plan before anyone gets hurt.

I would definitely recommend this book. This book is really good because Ryan has many exciting encounters with the Stealth Bot. I picked this book because I had read the books prior from this series and I thought it was good. My favorite character in this book is Sparks because he is funny. On page 133 the text states, “‘Pretty badly damaged, poor thing.’” This quote is when the Stealth Bot almost kills Ryan and Sparks damages it to save Ryan. This shows that that Sparks is almost more concerned with the robot than Ryan.

My favorite quote from the book is “And a shower. He really needed a shower.” (173) This quote is meaningful to me because it is extremely funny how Ryan is thinking about a serious thing possibly joining the Outlier( a villain) and he is also thinking about a shower. This quote occurs when the Outlier gives Ryan an offer to join them.

My Job

My dream job is to be a Major League Baseball player for the Los Angeles Dodgers. My first reason for this is it would be cool to get to know all of the players on the team. Playing alongside Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Shohei Ohtani, Teoscar Hernandez, and others would be a dream come true for me. Another reason for this would be I treasure the game of baseball and I would truly appreciate an opportunity to play in MLB. This is only my second year playing but I already love it. My third and final reason is I love the Dodgers franchise. They have been my favorite baseball team for my entire life and that a big reason why I would want to wear Dodger blue.

RAD READING – February

This month I read a book called The Rules by Paul Orton. In this book the main character is Ryan Jacobs. Ryan is a kid who loves technology and try’s to do a dare to hack into some of the military’s top secret information. However, things quickly become real bad for Ryan when military agents show up at his house and take him into custody. When Ryan receives a second chance at a secret school called Devonmoor Academy. Will Ryan succeed with a new opportunity or will he end up being sent to a military prison?

I would definitely recommend this book. This book is really good because it keeps you involved with all of the challenges Ryan faces at the academy. I picked this book because my mom bought it for me. My favorite character in this book is Lee because he is very friendly to Ryan. On page 40 the text states, “Ryan softened a little at the sacrifice Lee was willing to make.” This quote is when Ryan receives a bad breakfast and Lee trades him his good breakfast. This shows that that Lee will make sacrifices for Ryan because that is how much his friendship means to him.

My favorite quote from the book is “‘Yeah well I’m glad you did what you did,’ replied Lee. ‘It’s nice to know how much you care.’” (176) This quote is meaningful to me because it shows that Ryan and Lee have became really good friends and it shows they will both make sacrifices in order to maintain a good friendship. This quote occurs when Ryan gives fake highly valuable data to a fake U.S. enemy to save Lee’s life.
