Have you ever felt a premonition? Well I have. When? It was the final day of O’Donoghue summer baseball camp. The game that would rank us third place was on the line. My team, the Mariners, were currently losing by one run. Ayden was on third and Remy was on second. Remy had pretty good speed so a base hit to the outfield would probably score the winning run. Clad in my O’Donoghue shirt I stepped to the plate.
“I’ve got it, I’ve got it!” I caught it and that was the end of the second inning. I quickly ran in because I was due up in the next inning. Quaid hit a double and then Grady got a base hit. Evan stayed at third so I came up to the plate with runners on first and third with no outs. The first pitch I got a small piece of and popped it foul to the right. No defender made a play on it so I had one strike on me. The next pitch I hit a towering blast to left that tied it up in the third inning. It was into the bullpen and me, Quaid, and Grady all scored. I gingerly ran around the bases.
Two innings later I came up to the plate with second and third occupied. The first pitch I took in the dirt for ball one. Pitch two was a pitch that soared past my head. It was two balls, no strikes, a favorable count for the hitter. It was a perfect fastball to hit. I turned on it and ripped it into left field for a hit. Ayden scored easily and Remy was hustling for home. He scored. We had won. The rest of the team ran out on the field and we had a huge celebration. After winning we all got otter pops and we celebrated being third place. I will never forget the experiences of baseball that summer.
